Judge's house
Here is the first house we were ever asked to restore.
A bit of history -
In 1906, the first judge of Rockhampton moved in to it. It was a 3-block title, with a gabled roof and the cooks quarters out the back, where the laundry is now.
The house was red brick, with full swooping verandahs all round and 60 foot pine trees in the front yard. Bay windows in the front of the house gave a wonderful view of the street.
Sometime in the 70's, a meat worker bought it as an investment and split the allotments down to the 3. He built his son's house on one side, took the gabled roof off and put a flat roof on. He also removed the bay windows and verandahs. He sold it on to an old couple, who lived in the property until 2005.
Every house has it's history, we just happen to know the history about this one, because the son still lives next door!
